e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whips – A Dupe For The NYX Liquid Illuminator & Benefit’s High Beam?

I am thrilled to be back to blogging! After what seems like ages of studying and getting it on with my books, I cannot explain how ecstatic I am to be typing away. Well? Let’s dive right in!

A few weeks back I got in touch with the brains behind Accessories By Bwalya – a new online beauty store on the block with a passion to bring quality affordable make-up to the South African market. Bwalya sent me the e.l.f. Cosmetics Shimmering Facial Whips to put to the test and review for you, and my oh my they are fabulous!

The e.l.f. Cosmetics Facial Whips are the most amazing things I have ever used! I currently have two and I am looking into getting the other three shades – yes that’s how obsessed I am!

E.L.F. SAYS

WHAT IT IS Our Shimmering Facial Whip is a multipurpose, on-the-go whipped highlighter packed with Vitamin E to instantly brighten and soothe skin with no greasy after-feel.

WHAT IT DOES Ideal for using on your cheeks, lips, eyelids or anywhere you would like a radiant pop of shimmering color.

HOW TO USE

  • Squeeze a tiny amount onto a clean finger and gently pat onto the cheekbones, brow bone, and lips.
  • Apply with a small smudge brush to highlight smaller areas.

e.l.f Shimmering Facial Whip ‘Lilac Petal’ Swatch

WHAT I SAY As soon as I heard the name ‘Lilac Petal’ I assumed the shade would have a purple tint to it, however after swatching it you can see it is more on the peachy pink side – but hey I am not complaining! I love using ‘Lilac Petal’ for a more natural look, it gives you just the right amount of shimmer without overdoing it. A pop of shimmer mixed with your favorite cream blush will have you looking like the perfect girl next door. Also it works fabulous as a nude gloss – and a girl can’t have too many nude glosses right?

This is a pretty close dupe for Benefit’s High-Beam and just the right thing for a babe on a budget!

e.l.f Shimmering Facial Whip ‘Golden Peach’ Swatch

WHAT I SAY This one is my absolute favorite – well anything that screams bronzed Greek Goddess for that matter is. I was immediately drawn to it! At a first glance at the tube, I did not predict the color pay off to be so good, but it definitely surprised me! Transform a natural day look – a glam evening look with just one squeeze of the Golden Peach’ Shimmering Facial Whip.

I put it to the ultimate test and basked my face in it. A tiny drop in your foundation goes a long way leaving your skin dewy and glowing all day.

After using the e.l.f. Golden Peach Facial Whip and the NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator, I would have to say they are pretty much alike in terms of their color, however the e.l.f Shimmering Facial Whip is much more pigmented and prominent as you can see in the image below.

Overall Thoughts

I am super impressed with the two e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whips that I have tried so far! For only ZAR100 they are value for money. And they are so so versatile! A lip gloss, highlighter and eye-shadow all for that price? Yes please! The texture is smooth and they glide on so easily.

If you are looking for that sparkle without breaking the bank, then nothing can beat this!
