Recently, Rubybox sent me a press pack containing two of the Eau Thermale Avène Spring Water. At first when I read up on it, I thought to myself, this is just water on your face, and yet it’s supposed to be paranormal and aid in almost everything!

Two weeks later and I have joined the bandwagon! I have been using the Eau Thermale Avène Spring Water religiously for the past two weeks and Eau Thermale Avène definitely lives up to its expectations! It’s no secret why Eau Thermale Avène claims to sell one of these every 2 seconds.

About Eau Thermale Avène

Before I get to the good part, why don’t we learn more about Eau Thermale Avène.

Eau Thermale Avène is a range of skincare specifically designed for sensitive, intolerant and allergy prone skin. It has its basis in dermatology treatments and is the No 1 Dermo-cosmetic in France and No 2 in Europe for all products sold through the pharmacy channel.

The entire range is based on Thermal Spring Water.

The spring water takes a 40 year slow journey underground through the Cevennes Mountains in the South of France and is enriched with precious minerals and trace elements before it finishes its journeying the town of Avene. Of constant composition, Avene Thermal Spring Water has a low mineral content and therfore respects the natural balance and the sensitivity of the skin without causing dehydration or irritaion like other high mineral content thermal waters. it is bacteriologically pure, with a neutral pH and rich in silica which soothes sensitive skin.

Eau Thermale Avène Spring Water 50 ml (RRP – R139)

Avene Claims:

Avène Thermal Spring Water is captured directly at its source, ensuring that all its soothing and softening properties are preserved. It is a hypoallergenic spring water spray that provides instant relief for sensitive skin. This spray has soothing, anti-irritant properties and is suitable for use when removing make-up, after shaving or even to treat diaper rash.

Frankly, its just H2O also known as water to mankind. But let me be clear, this is not your regular water. It is the purest of the pure. Refined into its natural raw form, with a pH of 7.5 , this is as good as it gets!

If you are already exposed to good water, you probably do not care about what I am talking about. But if you live down here in South Africa, we can all agree that tap water cannot be safely consumed with such ignorance. Many of the time, it may/probably is saturated with impurities and that is where Eau Thermale Avène makes sense.

Avène Thermal Spring Water is packaged in a sterile compartment on the actual site of the spring. This packaging technology, which is unique of its kind in the world, guarantees a product whose biological purity and effectiveness are completely intact. In addition, the spray is sealed with a tamper – proof protective film. The product is contained in a metal bottle with a spray cap. The 50 ml bottle is compact and great for travelling.

Hold the bottle about 30 cm away from your face and lightly spray the product all over your face. The trick is to allow the water droplets to sit on your face and let your skin absorb it in approximately 3 minutes.

Do not shake the bottle before application! This mixes the contents around as does not allow it to settle before you spray it onto your face, and hence you will not get your desired results.

Note to self: do not pat your face as much as your hands want to, after the 3 minutes have passed you may pat off any excess with a cotton pad.

The benefits of the Avène Thermal Spring Water are many and counting. Please see a few of them below:

In addition, Avène Thermal Spring Water can also be used after make-up application. Not as a setting spray, but rather to relieve make-up from its heavy powder and combat cakiness.

Price and Purchase

The 50 ml bottle retails for ZAR139  and can be purchased at Clicks stores.

Overall Thoughts

I recently started breaking out with fine pimples around my cheeks and I was horrified! This as never happened to me before. After receiving the Avène Thermal Spring Water, I was more then excited to put it to trial and experience the results for myself.

In 2-4 days’ time, the breakouts and redness stopped and calmed down. Prior to using Avène Thermal Spring Water, nothing seemed to calm my face down.

In a few days time, I was only left with blemishes. I now understand why this is reffered to as Holy Water! It is not only promising and does what it say, but also so so versatile.

I also spray it after working out, I feel refreshed and ready to tackle my day. It has also really come to my rescue on those sticky humid days when all your face needs is a spritz of H20!

Do I Recommend These

I would recommend this to anyone who has dry/problematic skin! I personally feel that if you have great skin, this would assist more with hydration and refreshing properties rather then aiding with skin irritations.
